On 9 May 2015, a group
of 18 ex-students from SMK Convent Klang paid a visit to their alma mater. Plans to visit
the school had been going for the past 2 years but materialise only after a
majority of the Class of 1970 (Form 5 Science 1) could get the time to be
together. It was indeed a trip down memory lane, especially for those who had
taken pains to travel all the way from countries abroad to be with their
classmates after 45 years.
The group was welcomed by
the Principal, Puan Hajah Rohimah bt Muhammad. They were then
taken on a guided tour of the school and were pleasantly surprised to note the
changes. The former sisters’ quarters
had been converted into Living Skills rooms, and their former Form 5 classroom
into the Art Room. An additional block had replaced their school field and the
space between the main building and the canteen converted into a covered
assembly hall.
All in all, it was rather
overwhelming for the group as they took snapshots and exchanged memories of
their time in SMK Convent Klang.
Wonderful memories - my parents found it hard to pay the school fees for my sister and I but I enjoyed the nuns and the school ethos was spiritual and generous.
